June 2017

Thursday, June 15: Section 508 Event: The US Access Board will provide the opportunity to come and bring your comments, questions, and concerns to discuss with the Access Board. The International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) will present an overview of their organization. A Section 508 Legal Update including accessibility lawsuits and remediation will be presented. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Section 508 Coordinators/Backups and anyone involved in the implementation of Section 508 within their agency.  Register now to attend at: https://registration.section508.gov/. Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD): Global Accessibility Awareness Day in-person or virtual events across the globe WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The target audience of GAAD is the design, development, usability, and related communities who build, shape, fund and influence technology and its use.

Thursday, May 18. 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. National Network of ADA Centers: Free Web Evaluation Tools: What They Can (and Can't) Do WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The intended audience for this training includes those who have an interest or responsibility in the evaluation of web site accessibility.

Thursday, May 18. 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm EDT. Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT): PEAT Talks: The Future of Accessible Work WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The intended audience for this training includes those who have an interest or responsibility for the creation or promotion of inclusive work environments with accessible technology usable by people with and without disabilities.

Tuesday, May 30. 1:00 pm. National Network of ADA Centers:Old versus New: Original Section 508 Standards (2000) compared to the Revised Section 508 Standards (2017) WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The intended audience for this training includes 508 Coordinators, document authors, developers, and other content creators. Areas to be addressed include software, covered content, and documentation.

Tuesday, April 4: Section 508 Event: The US Access Board will be presenting a session on the refreshed Section 508 rule. The GSA Office of Governmentwide Policy Section 508 team will present a session on the initiatives that are being developed to assist Federal agencies with the transition to the refreshed rule. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Section 508 Coordinators/Backups and anyone involved in the implementation of Section 508 within their agency.  Register now to attend in-person or virtually at: https://registration.section508.gov/. If you are local to the DC metro are in-person attendance is preferrable. Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT): Implementing Accessible Workplace Tech: PDFs and Accessibility WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The intended audience for this training includes those who have an interest or responsibility for the creation or hosting of accessible PDF documents.

Tuesday, March 28. 1:00 pm. National Network of ADA Centers: WCAG 2.0 and the Revised Section 508 Standards WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The intended audience for this training includes developers and content creators. Areas that will be addressed are documents and software, including both Web and non-Web content and applications.
